Irish Wheelchair Basketball senior squad set to depart for IWBF European B Championships.
The Irish Senior Wheelchair Basketball team has been announced in advance of their participation in the European B Championships this coming July in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The tournament will feature ten teams including the hosts, who are, Lithuania, Austria, Latvia, Portugal, France Russia, Croatia, Slovenia and Ireland.
Ireland qualified by finishing fourth at last year’s Championships in Lisbon, Portugal and following an intensive training and preparation schedule, Ireland is well prepared going into the competition.
Head Coach Jason Kennedy said, “We’re very excited about competing at the B Europeans in Sarajevo this coming July. Training has gone very well to date and we have a great blend of new and experienced players in the squad. We won’t underestimate any team, but that said I’m very confident in the ability of our squad. We had our final warm up games last weekend against GB, which have set us up nicely for the Championships”.
The squad sees five of the clubs represented who play in the Irish senior League and it also comprises of a backroom team including; Jason Kennedy Head Coach, Team Manager Alan Carron, Assistant Coach Paul Gallagher, team physio Colin Cohen and performance analyst Adrian Donoghue.
