The IWA-Sport AGM was held at HQ in Clontarf on Saturday, February 25th.
The AGM was preceded that morning by the National Sports Council Forum which is held annually for the clubs and sections of IWA-Sport. Information topics on the day included; Safeguarding, Finance, Anti doping, and Governance. The Rebel Wheelers club from Cork also delivered a superb presentation regarding their journey as a club to date.
The Council members then joined members of IWA-Sport in the afternoon to attend the AGM where a comprehensive overview of 2016 was detailed.
A key function of the AGM was to elect officers to the National Sports Executive Committee. The outgoing Chairperson Lisa Kelly was thanked for her service to IWA-Sport as she concluded her term as Chairperson following 5 successful years at the helm. Existing committee member Declan Slevin was elected as Chairman. Declan brings great administrative experience to the position owing to his stewardship of the Paracycling Invacare League and the Shannonside Stealers Wheelchair Basketball club.
The new Committee elected was;

- Committee member – Kerrie Leonard
- Committee member – Johnny Brady
Following the AGM the Annual Awards were presented to the outstanding athletes and volunteers of 2016.

- Club Volunteer of the Year Lucia Ryan
- Sports Section Volunteer of the Year Teresa Dineen
- Coach of the Year Pat Furlong
- Lifetime Recognition Award Eileen O’ Mahony
